Our Story

What brought us to homesteading…

Well, small fluffy animals, fresh eggs and the appeal of knowing where our food comes from. I’ve always wanted a small farm where I could look out at the land and know it was returning to its former glory. To know that it was being taken care of in a regenerative and restorative way. When the idea of starting a communal farm was broached that’s all it took for me to go all in. We started looking around at lands and before you know it the stars aligned and we found 40 acres in Hart, MI and the rest is a continuing story of planting, growing, learning and dreaming of our next farm addition adventure.

Michelle and Matt

I remember driving through the small towns of Southern Alberta on Sunday afternoons in the late 1970s. Searching for land to buy with our pocket lint. The idea of a family and friends commune has been living rent free in the back of my brain for roughly fifty years.
